Winning the Crime Fighting Game, provides an
unbeatable game plan for enhancing crime reporting in

professionals will discuss the outlook for international,
national, statewide and local crime fighting, as well as
exchanging the best marketing's practices and industry
trends.
"The 2006 Illinois Crime Stoppers Conference is this
year's must-attend event," said Karin Betzer-Grady

Association. "Illinois continues to welcome record
numbers of visitors year after year, and after seeing
the creativity and enthusiasm demonstrated at year's
past events, I am confident we will continue to achieve
and exceed our goals."
This year's conference will be held May 11 - 13 at the
Marriott Hickory Ridge Conference Center and Hotel in
Lisle. Hosted by Chairman Tom Hanlock and the
volunteer staff of the DuPage County Crime Stoppers,
this year's conference will feature educational sessions

Homeland Security issue and the Waterways Watch
Program.
According to the latest industry statistics released by
Crime Stoppers International, since its inception in
1984, Crime Stoppers in Illinois have issued over
231,349 caller codes. Those calls led to the solving of
over 51,844 cases with over 99,939 arrests being
made. These stifling facts continue on with over
$103,980,427.00 in property being recovered and over
$4,784,785.00 in rewards being paid.
The DuPage County Crime Stoppers is encouraging
anyone interested in crime prevention, professional or
civilian, to register early for this, The Main Event.
A man allegedly held up a bank but returned the cash
after feeling guilty about the whole ordeal. Just a few
minutes after he left the bank with just over one
thousand dollars in cash, the apologetic robber
returned to make financial amends. After the heist, the
suspect walked to a coin-operated laundry a block
away and
watched as police cars raced past the location to the
crime scene. The suspect walked back to the bank, but
was unable to reenter the establishment, because
banking industry protocol dictates that banks be locked
down after a robbery. The man banged on the windows
and caught the attention of the very teller he had
robbed. The woman alerted officers, who arrested the
man without incident.
Why Do You Need Crime Stoppers?
Crime Stoppers is an extremely effective crime fighting
concept that solves crime and keeps our streets safe.
Crime Stoppers is a resource of all the law enforcement
departments both locally and internationally and shows
an average conviction rate of 95 percent. Crime
Stoppers saves law enforcement agencies thousands of
dollars in investigation time by offering a 24/7 hotline to
which callers can report crime anonymously. Calls to
Crime Stoppers assist in putting police on the right
track by identifying individuals who are responsible for
committing crimes. Today there are some 1,200 Crime
Stoppers programs in 20 countries, including the United
States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, South
Africa, Central America and the Caribbean. On an
accumulative basis since 1976 tips to Crime Stoppers
have been responsible for the arrests of around
600,000 individuals and led to the seizure of close to $7
billlion in stolen property and illicit drugs. Crime
Stoppers does work and the DuPage County Crime
Stoppers are in need of your donation inorder to
replenish their reward and general fund. Please help by
sending your donations to P.O. Box 174 Glen Ellyn
Illinois 60138-0174.
