Dumb Criminal Acts
A robber accidentally shot himself when a .38-caliber
revolver failed to fire at its intended victim during a
hold-up. The robber did something that can only inspire
wonder: he peered down the barrel of the gun and tried
the trigger again. This time it worked. Oops! Remember
the title of this section is "Dumb Criminal Acts".

Why Do You Need Crime Stoppers?
Crime Stoppers is an extremely effective crime fighting
concept that solves crime and keeps our streets safe.
Crime Stoppers is a resource of all the law enforcement
departments both locally and internationally and shows
an average conviction rate of 95 percent. Crime
Stoppers saves law enforcement agencies thousands of
dollars in investigation time by offering a 24/7 hotline to
which callers can report crime anonymously. Calls to
Crime Stoppers assist in putting police on the right
track by identifying individuals who are responsible for
committing crimes. Today there are some 1,200 Crime
Stoppers programs in 20 countries, including the United
States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, South
Africa, Central America and the Caribbean. On an
accumulative basis since 1976 tips to Crime Stoppers
have been responsible for the arrests of around
600,000 individuals and led to the seizure of close to $7
billlion in stolen property and illicit drugs. Crime
Stoppers does work and the DuPage County Crime
Stoppers is in need of your donation in order to
replenish their reward and general fund. Please help by
sending your donations to P.O. Box 174 Glen Ellyn,
Illinois 60138-0174.
